I dug out the Windows XP disk and after some rebooting and disk repair stuff Zorg seems to be working properly again.

My ankle is still funny looking but is healing nicely. I now have a box of clothes to remove from my room. Next thing: put away miscellaneous trip clothes and then leap upon Chuck when he comes over and devour him.

:D

I knew it was going to take extra time to wobble to the bus stop this morning so I booted up my computer to check bus schedules really quickly.

It obediently got to the windows screen, BSODed, rebooted, got to the windows screen, BSODed, rebooted, got to the windows screen, BSODed, rebooted, got to the windows screen, BSODed,rebooted, got to the windows screen, BSODed, rebooted, got to the windows screen, BSODed, rebooted, got to the windows screen, BSODed....

No bueno. It was doing a scandisk utility every time it booted up before now and I thought THAT was annoying. I'm just sorta hoping that it will work magically when I try again later.

PS: Emerald City screwed up my breakfast smoothie. This things-don't-go-smooth best not be a trend. I'm not Captain Reynolds.

So I was just up in the break room getting a snack. They had two hard boiled eggs in one of the "get your stuff out of the door slot" machines but the cost label was missing. I put in $2, figuring it couldn't be more than that, and got my eggies and a shiny gold dollar coin in change.

Me: EEeee this thing gives dollar coins in change! I like those!

So I proceed to put the rest of my ones in the machine, up to $3 at a time (the most expensive thing in the machine is $2.75 so it won't accept more) and kept purchasing 75 cent containers of milk to get me shiny gold...

But I was so caught up in my nifty goal that I forgot to actually GET the milk out of the machine once I bought it. I bought the same container of milk over and over, and even the last time the door re-locked before I realized I was missing something.

Net result: 2 shiny gold coins and two hard boiled eggs from $6 :)

My eggs taste good and my gold is shiny.

The Daedalus Project

I remember taking a survey for these guys years ago. They have been tracking data on MMORPG players and have started showing their current findings. It's an interesting read.

The computer works!!! It was the power supply. It's still..quirky but functional. :D

Now to head out for a bit with [livejournal.com profile] refractednotion who was nice enough to fix Zorg (computer named now!) before taking him back to the ferry.

:)

The laptop that I've been borrowing from the generous [livejournal.com profile] aurora77 and [livejournal.com profile] sartan0 (they own a small corner of my soul now) had to go back to base. So I'm back dealing with the box of doom. It was up long enough last night for me to check part of my email and now it's not even doing that. Sad. I will endeavor to make it work sometime very soon (though not in the next few days cuz I won't be home).

I drove in this morning and made decent time...to my old office. At least I didn't pay for parking before I realized I was on the wrong side of town.

<--- not a morning person *shakes fist at daylight savings*.

GURPS tonight, Babeland reading tomorrow (more info please dear?)...fixy the computer mebbe Wednesday. Yeah. Mebbe.

New Office

spazzychic: (cube life)
In a strange turn of events, the internet is the ONLY thing working in the new office so far. It's usually the last thing to work.

Heh. Today is total, complete, unadulterated chaos.

Zoom,

Amber

Edited to add: 14 minutes before the end of my day, my phone finally started working. I have voice mail that I'll be listening to...tomorrow.
spazzychic: (suck! spaceballs)
My cell phone died last night. I've been trying to charge it since I got home, but it won't charge and now it won't even work when plugged in. So my cell phone is now for voice mail purposes only until I can get it replaced (guess where my money just went?). I have not gotten access to a phone to change my voicemail yet to reflect this, but be sure to leave your phone number when you call or I won't know your number to call back. :P

Amber

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] sartan0's idea of taking the battery out and putting it back in didn't work directly, but mixed with whacking the cell phone a few times against the table I got it to start charging. Heck, as long as I can get it to work for a while....

1: Since Joss can't help it:

[Poll #858875]

2: After I got done staring at my fire (omg water at my house!), I played Atelier Iris 2 on my PS2. It's an RPG prequel to the original, where you had this guy who could either create magic items through mixing items and elements or he could create some items on the fly in battle if he had the right mana elements.

Weeeellll...for 10 chapters of this next game, I assumed it worked the same. There are two main characters. One can create magic items through mixing other items and elements. The other is a fighter dude and magic slacker, but I noted he could create certain magic items during battle. So...that's what I did. Since some of the components needed to create things were pretty rare or expensive to buy, I had to work out a strategy to create only the magic items needed to get to the next part of the game and budget the magic items I used (though inexplicably the game had LOTS of places to use these magic items...how could anyone afford it?). It made for a somewhat frustrating but interesting aspect of the game.

It turns out that fighterman can make ANY item that the other character has even made one of...but without the expensive components. I'd already capped out on the elements he DOES need like... 5 chapters ago, so now I have 40+ of all the different magic items. But now I'm kinda bored because it seems too easy. :P Have a cookie for reading this far. :D

3: Kudoes and good luck to all you folks writing for NaNoWriMo! A large chunk of my friends list seems to be doing it. :)

4: I'm totally off MMOs. I had the barest interest in playing CoH for the Halloween event, but I missed it. Since I have no MMOable computer right now anyway, it's probably for the best.

My computer busted.

In that puff of funny smelling smoke kind of way.

I still can't find an apartment.

BUT, I am leaving for a cruise in 5.5 days.

And, uh, I won't get sunburned today.

And... Uh... I can't think of anything else.
