Everything is background is impenetrable dark. An antique clockface with a crack in the glass is illuminated by the flickering glow of a victorian style lamp off to one side. What can be seen of the face of the clock shows the course of a day, where I, II and III dipict a stark white, unforgiving sun, with the numbers IV - VI are afternoon to dusk, VI-IX are twilight to evening, and a fairly ominous looking moon and stars await before midnight.
The whole picture could be done in sepia tones.
