I can't think of a single time when a remake of a classic piece of anything with the goal to make it more "accessible" has not been a mess.

Another news source, saying that it isn't a remake, even though it's the same time frame and involves the same characters.

This doesn't mean I won't see this when it comes out, but I am prepared to cringe.
