Spanish

Is someone out there in cyberspace reasonably fluent to fluent in Spanish so that I can practice speaking? The mechanics are getting crowded around in my head and I need to practice them before they fall out. :)

Secondly, can someone recommend some Spanish language music that will

a: Not put me to sleep

and

b: Is not predominately trumpets?

Selena, her early albums. Absolutely GREAT stuff. I have all her albums at home.

One more. Also Carlos Santana. He does guitar, but has a lot of singers.

Hmmm...I'll have to put this to Paulo. All my Spanish music is jazz, mariachi (trumpets), or opera. :)

You should post for an IM chat buddy, unless you need to actual speak aloud. There is probably a community for music suggestions -- you could try [livejournal.com profile] linguaphiles. I'll ask my friends, but what they like might not be available here or online.

I used to be decent at it. I could carry on conversations with random people and I could understand it when two fluent speakers talked to each other, given that they didn't talk too fast or slur too many words. I did a bit of tutoring in college, too. But that was about 6 or 7 years ago, so I'm nowhere near as good as I was then.

Look for free Spanish magazines or surf Spanish news/entertainment sites. Just reading stuff can go a long way to refreshing your memory.
